Hey everyone,
It’s been one year since I published the first post for The Middle Path.
To celebrate, I wanted to take a look back at the most popular posts so far. I hope a few of them spark your interest.
Most Popular Posts
Life’s Infinite Paths — On navigating uncertainty, answering life’s most important questions, and the risks of being a maximizer. This is the most popular post of the year, with just under 1,000 views.
Cults, Community, and a New Recipe for Happiness — On my experience at a Buddhist monastery, how it changed my understanding of happiness, and the importance of stress testing our worldviews.
Autonomy — On autonomy as a form of currency. Also, why true freedom means having control over our circumstances and our minds.
On Community — On why it’s so difficult to maintain friendships and community in adulthood. This post was the hardest to write, but also the most rewarding. Funny how that works.
Wintering — On frenzied New Year’s resolutions, existentially satisfying soups, and living with the seasons.
Finally, I wanted to plug my very first post. It went out to a grand total of 5 people, so it has the least views of any post, but it’s one of the most personally meaningful. Ostensibly, it’s about my experience with tinnitus. Really, though, it’s about how pain is unavoidable in life, but suffering is often optional.
What’s Next
In the coming months, I’ll be exploring a few new questions, like:
What’s the relationship between ambition and happiness?
How can we strive to improve our lives while also accepting things as they are?
What happens when we deeply desire opposite things?
Here’s to another year of The Middle Path.
Thanks for being part of this. I’m very grateful for all of you,
Mark
Congrats! One year! Woot woot!!!
